Sometimes when you find a fabric you love – you don’t need to have
All Ages
a complex pattern to create a lovely quilt. Kids love bright colours and
simple patterns. Here I chose two main fabrics from the Robots range by
David Walker for Free Spirit, and expanded on the theme using accents
of some more of the range. With such a quick and easy quilt – you can
get all these projects done in a weekend and transform your nursery in no
time!
Please read the pattern completely before beginning to cut or sew.

Fold fabric selvedge to selvedge and cut a 9” strip across the width of fabric, cross-cut this
strip into two pieces, each measuring 9”x 21”.
Cut a 7” strip and cross-cut into a single piece measuring 7”x26”
rocket Stripe
As this is a directional fabric, you will need to cut some from the width of fabric and some
from the length of fabric to make sure that all stripes run in the same direction.
Folding fabric from selvedge to selvedge, cut two 10” strips by the WIDTH of fabric. Cross-
cut one of these pieces to measure 10”x 26”, using almost the entire length of the second
strip.
Cut 2 strips, 9” wide by remaining LENGTH of fabric, and trim to measure 9” x 25”
Pale blue/Aqua Centre
Finished size of the appliquéd panel is 20”x 24”. You may choose to cut this larger than
required and square it off after you have completed the appliqué. This allows you to remove
frayed edges which occur from handling fabric while completing the appliqué.
