2009 Outlook
Siena enters 2009 with high hopes. Last season returned the freshman Ashleigh Barone. She tied the school’s single-season

Forwards
Barone returns as the team’s leading scorer. She led the league
with 15 goals and 35 points and ranked second with six game-
winning goals.
“We’ll need to find someone to play with Barone,” Karbowski
said. “Teams are going to know all about her after last season
so it’s important someone can play off her.”
Macera and junior Deonna Gould and freshman Caitlin Cahalan
will compete for playing time at forward. Macera has appeared in
40 games and registered nine points during her career. Gould is a
physically strong forward who played in four games last season.
The newcomer Cahalan played at nearby Shaker High School
and is a two-time Class AA All-State selection.
“There is a lot of talent among the forwards,” said Karbowski.
“The key is always getting them to play well with each other
and off of each other.”
Midfield
Although the team lost graduating captain and outside midfielder
Chelsea Maguire, the nucleus of the midfield remains intact.
Tice and Riley will control the center midfield and look to create
scoring chances. Tice returned to the midfield as a sophomore
and scored two goals and had four assists. As a freshman, she
led the team with eight goals and 19 points playing forward.
Her versatility could come in to play for the offense.
Riley was third on the team in scoring with 14 points on five
goals and four assists last season. She played her best in big
