The story began on Monday, March 30. After hospital visitation that day, I felt persuaded to visit the St.
David’s area. In my spirit the Lord said, “Go to St. David’s, I will show you a piece of land you will purchase.”
I went prayerfully. As I drove I asked the Lord if this was really Him or just me, also praying that He would
clearly show me the land. On my way back from driving up to St. David’s, I saw the land. I almost missed it. The
moment I saw the property I felt confirmation and excitement at the same time. I enquired as to who owned the
land, and was told that the owner is in England. When I enquired whether the land was for sale or lease, I was
told that it was for sale. I took some contact information and left.
On my way out, I met a sister in the Lord from the Emmanuel Baptist Church where I serve as senior pastor.
As quickly as I could, I told her what happened. Then, we went unto the property and prayed, claiming in the
name of Jesus the start of the Lord’s new work in the area. Here are some important things that have happened
since then:
- I shared this movement of God with the members of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
- We are in prayer for the work since then.
- We have engaged in prayer walks, street witnessing, and home visitation in the area and have led 20
persons to make commitment to Christ.
- We have secured use of a building from a resident in the community for Sunday morning worship. These
services began in April.
- Contact was made with the owner via email. He came in June to meet with us, and to have the land surveyed
for sale to us. He is willing to sell us just under an acre (approximately 30,000 square feet).
- July 13 to 17 we held Vacation Bible School in the area. Twenty-four children made public confessions of
Christ as Lord. Some attend other gospel churches in the area, so we have some following up to do.
- Some time to come, we will host some evangelistic open-air meetings.
- Dr. Burchell Taylor (president of the Caribbean Baptist Fellowship) was in Grenada and I took him by the
new work.
Please pray for us to be faithful in this new work. I will soon send you some pictures. I have thought of naming
the work, Living Water Baptist Church or Christian Fellowship. I will let the Lord guide.
In His Service
Kenneth

BOOK NOTE:
“BAPTISTS’ BIBLE” LAUNCHED DURING ANNUAL GATHERING

Approximately 150 copies of The Acts of the Apostles: Four Centuries of Baptist Interpretation were made
available to persons attending the Baptist World Alliance Annual Gathering, in Ede, Netherlands, from July 27
to August 1.
Edited by Beth Allison Barr, Bill J. Leonard, Mikeal C. Parsons, and C. Douglas Weaver, with biblical text
translation by Helen Barrett Montgomery, the 900-plus page volume includes interpretations on the Acts of the
Apostles by various Baptist preachers and leaders including John Smyth, Thomas Helwys, Henry Lawrence, Dan
Taylor, H. Wheeler Robinson and Rick Warren. It includes excerpts from the First and Second London Baptist
Confessions of Faith, the Somerset Confession, the Standard Confession, and the Philadelphia Confession, all
of which made references to Acts.
The book “illustrates the diversity of Baptist responses to the text of scripture and the various hermeneutical
approaches that have characterized Baptist groups and individuals from the 17th century to the present,” the
editorial introduction reads.
Subtitled “The Baptists’ Bible,” the volume was published by Baylor University Press. The gift of the volume
to the BWA was made possible by the generosity of Charles DeLancey, a member of Tallowood Baptist Church
in Houston, Texas, in the United States.
BWA General Secretary Neville Callam expressed gratitude to the publisher. “We applaud the Baylor
community for conceiving the idea of such a project and eagerly await further products that will complete the
series contemplated,” said Callam, in reference to plans to publish future volumes as part of a series.
In his letter to the publishing house, Callam stated, “Undoubtedly, the series you are undertaking will make
available to Baptists, and to the wider ecclesial family, insights into ways in which Baptists have understood and
applied the teaching of sacred Scripture throughout the centuries of our life.
In thanking the publishers for using the BWA Annual Gathering as the forum for the book launch, Callam
said, “Congratulations to you as you continue this project and thank you very much for launching the first book
in the series contemplated at our Baptist World Alliance Annual Gathering.”
