Of course we should take care of
those “who have borne the battle” and
their families [“First Things First,”
Washington Scene, February 2009].
But several of the initiatives [MOAA]
advocates seek added benefi ts for all
veterans, most of whom a) survived
their service relatively whole and
b) have long since readjusted to life
outside the military and thus have no
need for increased benefi ts. … Those
of us who have served in the past are
well-positioned to be role models for
the work and sacrifi ces ahead.
I believe MOAA should emphasize
