The System Administration for the Solaris 10 Operating System, Part 1 course gets you further engaged with the most efficient, secure, and reliable operating system ever built. This course gives you direct experience with the most essential system administration tasks in the Solaris 10 OS. You will be instructed in crucial system management skills including: describing the Solaris 10 OS directory hierarchy, managing local disk devices and interface configurations, managing UFS and ZFS file systems, performing mounts and unmounts, installing and removing Solaris packages and patches, and performing system boot procedures. The course also covers user administration, controlling system processes, and performing installation and upgrades. This course is the first of a two-part series that helps you to prepare for Part I of the Sun Certified System Administration for Solaris OS examination. LAB INFORMATION: The hands-on labs offered in this course may involve accessing equipment that resides at a location other than where the training is delivered.
System Administration for the Solaris 10 Operating System, Part 2
Classroom Length: 5 Days
The System Administration for the Solaris 10 Operating System, Part 2 course expands your mastery of the most advanced operating system on the planet: Solaris 10. This course provides students with hands-on experience working with more complex and integrated administration concepts, and builds upon the Part 1 course. Students will be instructed in essential system administration skills including: configuring network interfaces, managing swap configurations, crash dumps, and core files. The course also covers configuring NFS and AutoFS as well as system messaging, managing storage volumes and ZFS file systems, and setting up naming services and managing Solaris Zones. This course helps you to prepare for Part II of the Sun System Administration certification exam. LAB INFORMATION: The hands-on labs offered in this course may involve accessing equipment that resides at a location other than where the training is delivered.
Make the Transition to the Solaris 10 Operating System
Classroom Length: 3 Days
The Make the Transition to the Solaris 10 Operating System course provide the essential differences between Solaris 8, Solaris 9 and Solaris 10. The course covers skills and tasks that new in Solaris 10, and changed in Solaris 10. The course also covers tasks in Solaris 10 that replace previous Solaris tasks. This course is intended to provide experienced Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 systems administrators with practical experience administering Solaris 10 through hands- on practice and focuses on many of the objectives necessary to prepare them to take the Sun Certified System Administrator for the Solaris 10 Operating System Upgrade Exam (CX-310-203).

Network Administration for the Solaris 10 Operating System

The Network Administration for the Solaris 10 Operating System course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform network administration tasks, such as configuration and troubleshooting of a local area network (LAN). This course also provides hands-on experience with topics, such as Internet Protocol (IP) routing, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), IP version 6 (IPv6) and the Solaris IP Filter firewall.
Dynamic Performance Tuning and Troubleshooting With DTrace

The Dynamic Performance Tuning and Troubleshooting with DTrace course provides students with the ability to use DTrace to diagnose application and system problems. This course replaces SA-325-S10. Sun Virtualization: Solaris 10 Logical Domains Administration
Classroom Length: 2 Days
Sun Microsystems Logical Domains, or LDoms, technology is part of a suite of methodologies for consolidation and resource management that includes Sun Fire Dynamic System Domains and Solaris OS Containers. This technology allows you to allocate a systems various resources, such as memory, CPUs, and devices, into logical groupings and create multiple, discrete systems, each with their own operating system, resources, and identity within a single computer system. The emphasis of this course is on providing practical LDom planning, configuration, and administration experience, while also covering the underlying technologies and best practices. This course features the Solaris 10 OS and LDoms management software. The students perform the course lab exercises using LDoms supported servers.
Sun Virtualization: Solaris 10 Containers Administration
Classroom Length: 3 Days
The Solaris 10 Containers Administration course offers a practical, guided experience working with Solaris Containers, the Sun virtualization feature comprised of Solaris Zones and Solaris Resource Controls. Containers are used to create isolated environments for running applications, and enable server consolidation with low overhead. In this course, you gain the knowledge critical to properly implement and manage these important capabilities in the Solaris Operating System. The hands-on labs offered in this course involve accessing equipment that resides at a location other than where the training is delivered.
