Chimelong expands
Disneyland Hotel to
resort offering be renovated
New hotel anchors 2009 improvements
California’s Disneyland Hotel this month embarks on a renovation project
that will include major improvements to its guest rooms and considerable
changes to the exterior of the property.
The renovated rooms (as pictured below) will feature a contemporary
new look with Disney touches woven into the décor, such as an illuminated
headboard featuring a representation of Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty
Castle. There will also be an element as nostalgia thanks to black and
white art reinforcing the history of Walt’s first theme park.
As well as improved television, telephone, internet, coffee-making and
refrigeration facilities, upgrades to plumbing, electrical and heating and air
conditioning systems also are included in the project.
Built in 1955, the Disneyland Hotel comprises three towers – “Magic,
Wonder and Dreams.” The exterior of these towers will be renovated one at
a time with large tinted-blue windows replacing the current sliding doors
and faux balcony railings. The new windows are designed to be energy
efficient and filter outside noise.
The hotel, one of three on-site properties at the Disneyland Resort, will
remain open during the renovation and is scheduled to be completed in full
by 2012.
Chimelong Resort in Guangzhou, China, has opened a new hotel and
convention centre. The 1,100 Chimelong Hotel is underpinned by an
ecological theme with stylish touches to remind guests of their location close to
the resort’s Xiangjiang Safari Park.
The property adjoins the existing hotel close to Chimelong Paradise
amusement park and Chimelong International Circus and has already won an
award for “best themed hotel in China.”
Each of the luxuriously-appointed rooms and suites celebrates wildlife and
the rainforest with spacious balconies overlooking natural surroundings. Some
also have great views over into Chimelong Water Park.
As many of the resort’s existing visitors come from within a 150km radius,
the new hotel is being pitched at guests from Hong Kong and beyond as

resort. The group also operates another hotel off-site in Panyu, the Xiangjiang
Hotel.
The convention centre, meanwhile, includes a 6,000 square metre, column-
free exhibition hall with state-of-the-art facilities and technical support, plus 36
multi-function rooms suitable for meetings, seminars and banquets.
New improvements have also been made at the Chimelong Water Park, now
in its third season. Live music each afternoon from a Brazilian samba band and
a disco in the wave pool from 5pm keep the energy levels high at this award-
