CSB receives community service award
Cambridge Savings Bank was presented with the Salvation Army’s 2009 Community Service Award, in recognition of their $7,500 sponsorship of the Cambridge Community of Realtors Mardi Gras Soiree. The event benefitted Our Place, which provides homeless families in Cambridge with child care. Major William Bode, State Commander, Salvation Army of Massachusetts and Major Steve Carroll, commanding officer, Salvation Army Cambridge Citadel/Somerville Corps presented the award to Robert M. Wilson, president/CEO of CSB and Susan Lapierre, senior vice president, community relations and CRA officer.
Volunteers sought for public schools
Cambridge School Volunteers (CSV) invites individuals who would like to volunteer in the Cambridge Public School system for the upcoming school year to their fall kick-off event on Wednesday, September 23, 2009. The event will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the CRLS Library and a light dinner will be served. Come meet staff, learn about volunteer opportunities in grades K-12, and hear about the nuts and bolts of getting started. Hotel employee receives national honor
Thomas Kopaczynski, Human Resources Manager at the Best Western Inn at Longwood Medical was honored with the 2009 Outstanding Manager of the Year Medium Property Stars of the Industry Award by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA). He was recognized for spearheading the 2nd annual Food Drive at the Inn at Longwood, challenging employees to raise over $5,000 in charitable donations and starting the “The Inn Goes Green” program. Thomas received the award during the annual Stars of the Industry luncheon on June 24 during the AH&LA Summer Summit in Chicago, after winning on the state level in February. Hyatt recognized for homeless support
The Hyatt Regency Cambridge was honored with a presentation by the Rotary Club of Cambridge for long-term support of the organization Thanksgiving Dinner. Hyatt management and staff have generously given their time and culinary talents to provide and prepare a full Thanksgiving dinner that Rotarians serve to less fortunate members of the Cambridge community. Sponsors sought for 9/17 CCTV BBQ

This festive evening will take place in CCTV’s “backyard” in Central Square and features food grilled by local chefs, live music and a silent auction. CHA head wins Healthcare Exec award
Dennis D. Keefe, Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) has received the 2009 Massachusetts Healthcare Executive of the Year Award from the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). This award recognizes ACHE affiliates who are experienced in the field and have significantly contributed toward the advancement of healthcare management excellence and the achievement of the goals of the organization. Keefe has served as Cambridge Health Alliance’s CEO since 2002.
