AWARDS JUDGING
Meet the decision-makers
The winners of the Water Industry Achievement Awards
are chosen by experts drawn from the industry. The
judges are chosen because they know the difference
between what is common in the industry and what is
truly outstanding and deserves to be rewarded.
There are two panels of judges – one weighs up the

merits of entries for the Most Innovative New Technology
of the Year and Most Innovative Use of an Existing
sepdkqp _kilnkieoa*
Technology categories, while the other scrutinises all the
other categories.
Entries are read thoroughly by the judges who then fill
in a form to get a shortlist of entries for each category.
The judging panel will then discuss the shortlisted entries
and then fill in a form outlining their first, second and third
choice before a winner is chosen.
The six shortlisted entries from each of the Most
Innovative New Technology of the Year and Most
Innovative Use of an Existing Technology categories will
be required to give a 15-minute presentation to the
judging panel. This panel will also fill in a form outlining its
first, second and third choice before a winner for each of
the two categories is chosen.
For the Outstanding Innovation 2009 category, both
judging panels combine with the aim of judging the
winning entries from all the categories (excluding
Outstanding Individual Contribution to the Water Industry)
to establish an outright Water Industry Achievement
Awards winner.
