this magazine at either Asian Attractions Expo in Seoul or the
Asia Tourism Resort & Attraction conference in Shanghai.
By general consensus, Asia provides some of the best growth
potential for the outdoor amusement industry, as it’s one of the few
parts of the world in which new parks are still being built. It will
therefore be interesting to hear the talk at these two events regarding
the region’s prospects amid the ongoing global financial crisis.
One man who believes business will boom yet further is Zhang
Jianzhong from the China National Tourism Administration.
Speaking ahead of the conference in Shanghai he remarked:
“Catalysed by the Beijing Olympics and the World Expo in
Shanghai, we are now at a turning point and ready for another
substantive leap.”
We will be happy to bring you more views and predictions as part
of our exclusive coverage of these events in Park World. As for this
issue, we have reports of numerous new rides and attractions,
including Mack’s first ever launch coaster, Huss’ long-awaited King
Kong ride and two interactive plane rides at parks in Northern
Europe. Vertigo at Tivoli in Copenhagen and Götterflug at Belantis
in Leipzig are each very different rides, but worth a look (see page
34/36).
