Raking It In
Sue and John’s Bootedout Line Dancing Club in Basingstoke,
Hampshire held their third Annual Daffodil Dance recently. “So
far this year we have raised £570, giving us a grand total over the
last three years of £1,488,” Sue told us: “I would like to say a very
big thank you to all those who attended this years dance, and to
those who donated both cash and prizes for the tombola. We had a
Dancing With A Spring
great evening with all levels of dancers enjoying themselves. It was
exactly what Line dancing should be, fun, fun, fun. In Their Step
Say It With Flowers
A monthly social dance was held at Streetly, Sutton Coldfield,
West Midlands by Martin and his Rhythmic Cowboys Line Dance
Club. Martin told us: “I taught the Daffodil Dance to all my classes
over the previous week and managed to raise £260 which I have
sent to Marie Curie Cancer Fund.”
Oh What a Lovely Bunch
Pamela and her Line Dance Club in Almeria, Spain have shown
their support for cancer care. She told us: “We do not have Marie
Curie Cancer Support, in Spain. Our Club supports M.A.C.S.
Mojacar Area Cancer Support Group, the first of it’s kind, for
Cancer Support. We had a Social recently and raised some money
for M.A.C.S. We danced the Beginner version of The Daffodil
Dance in spiritual support of Marie Curie Cancer Support.”
Bloomin’ Lovely
Hooligan’s Line Dancing Club from Preston, Lancashire pulled on
their boots for the Daffodil Dance. Sheila Walmsley told us: “We
all had such a great time. It was fantastic to see everyone having
so much fun dancing and raising money for such a worthy cause.”
Dancers donated cakes for a cake stall and local traders provided
prizes for a raffle. Sheila added: “We raised £400 and I would like
to thank everyone involved.” Dancer Rosa Butler told us: “My Line dance classes have all taken
part in the Daffodil Dance in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care this
month. I chose the easier dance, Heavenly Too, so that everyone
could be involved and we decided we preferred the music Moving
On Up by M People.” A cheque for £220 has been sent to their
local Marie Curie Hospice in Liverpool. Rosa added: “I would like
to thank all the dancers from Abbey View Community Centre,
The Millennium Centre, Manweb Social Club and All Saints
Church Hall who took part. Some of them came to more than
one class and willingly got involved each time. I’ve now put my
daffodil wellies away until next year.”
