NEw ABSENTEE BIddING
See an item you would like, but can’t make it to the Fun Fair? Try the absentee bid system for our
FEATURED items.
E-mail Liz Ratcliffe, at lizratcliffe@gmail.com . In your email include bid number (on the cover
of your program), your name, phone number, the item, item number and your MAXIMUM bid.
Please email before 5PM on Thursday, April 23rd.
When you place an absentee bid, you enter the maximum amount you’re willing to pay for the
item. The other bidders won’t know your maximum bid amount.
Liz or another volunteer will place bids on your behalf during the auction. We’ll keep bidding
for you until bidding reaches your maximum amount. If another bidder bids higher than your
maximum amount, we will no longer bid on your behalf.
If no other bidder has a higher maximum bid at the end of the auction, you win the item even
if your bid doesn’t go as high as your maximum bid. You could pay significantly less than your
maximum price.
AUCTION PROCEdURES
Each bidder must have a bid number; this is the number on the cover of your booklet.
The silent auction will take place in the Gymnasium. Each item is displayed along with a bidding
sheet. The classroom projects and teacher donations are displayed in the hall corridor leading to
the kindergarten rooms.
To make a bid: Each item will have a bid sheet. If you wish to bid on an item, enter your bid
number and the amount of your bid on the appropriate bid sheet. PLEASE HONOR ALL
OPENING BIDS AND REQUIRED BIDDING INCREMENTS NOTED ON EACH BID SHEET.
If the person before you did not meet the minimum raise, make your bid anyway, making sure that
you follow the minimum raise rule. At auction’s end, the winning bid must meet the minimum
raise requirement. If the highest bidder is not willing to meet the minimum raise, the auction goes
to the next highest bidder meeting the minimum bid requirement.
Opening bids may be reduced on select items if no bid activity has occurred as closing time nears.
If an item at closing time is still in active bidding, then verbal bidding will occur with a silent
auction representative until a winner is established.
