Poppy Ridge Improves Usage Under Mandatory Water Restriction

F

The eighth hole on the Merlot Course at Poppy Ridge.

aced with a required 25% water reduction due to the drought in California, Poppy Ridge took steps

to not only meet, but also better the new standard in 2014. The course is on pace to once again better that standard in 2015. The course uses agricultural water derived from

the South Bay Aqueduct. The untreated water is suit- able only for irrigation. Steps the facility has taken to control usage include not watering the driving range, and turning off certain sprinkler heads between the tees and fairways. “Superintendent John Ball has done a great job

developing a drought-contingency plan to save water,” said Poppy Ridge General Manager Todd Cook.
