A stabilized face at impact makes it

extremely forgiving on miss-hits.

The new technology promotes greater face fl exion on shots struck toward the heel, toe or lower on the face.

Drag forces are reduced by 37 percent for greater clubhead speed, ball

velocity and, ultimately, distance.

Callaway XR16

>The XR16’s crown has been elongated

from face to trailing edge to help stabilize the face at impact, which makes it extremely forgiving on miss-hits. To speed up this larger head design, CALLAWAY worked with engineers at Boeing to improve its aerodynamics, which reduces drag and increases ball velocity and distance. Also contributing to improved ballspeed is a thinner (up to 19 percent), faster face.

M1 predecessor, features a lightweight carbon composite crown that weighs fi ve grams less than the material it replaces. That fi ve grams is repositioned low and back in the clubhead for an increased moment of inertia (MOI) and more stability on off -center hits. Two other tech features—the company’s Inverted Cone Technology and a redesigned Speed Pocket—promote greater face fl exion on shots struck toward the heel, toe or lower on the face. This results in less ball speed—and distance —when you stray from the sweetspot. You’re given plenty of adjustability, too, via the 12-position loft sleeve.

PING G Series

>Inspired by a close-up photograph

of a dragonfl y’s wing, PING engineers designed an intricate and stable crown structure that resulted in a whopping eight grams of weight savings. This moves the driver’s CG lower and further back, resulting in a higher MOI—and PING’s most forgiving driver ever. Visible “Vortec Technology” on the driver’s trailing edge, coupled with turbulators on the crown, reduce drag forces by 37 percent for greater clubhead speed, ball velocity and, ultimately, distance. Rounding out the technology package is a hosel sleeve that permits fi ve diff erent loft settings.
