BOAT REPORT

The biggest surprise is that Princess has managed to incorporate this much volume into such a good-looking boat

VERDICT The fact that the new 62 isn’t the sharpest handling boat in the Princess range is hardly surprising given its size and height. The fl ybridge market demands space above all else and the 62 delivers that in spades. The bigger surprise is that Princess has managed to incorporate this much volume into such a good-looking boat. In all but the most challenging conditions it’s also a very quiet, comfortable boat to cruise on. The other surprise is how much more

sophisticated and detailed the interior feels than the previous generation of boats. They may only be small improvements, but they make a big difference to buyers.

THE HELM VIEW

RIP conventional gauges – even ultra

conservative Princess has completely ousted them now

Think of the Princess 62, then, as a Range Rover rather than a BMW M5. The M5 may be the better drive but the Range Rover offers more space, more comfort and more luxury, which explains why more people buy Range Rovers than M5s. Doubtless the majority of fl ybridge buyers feel the same way about their boats, but what if you don’t? What if you’d rather lose a loo and a load of deck space in return for sleeker looks, faster speeds and slimmer hulls? No problem, sir – how about the Princess S60? Covering all the bases – that really is the

cleverest marketing since sliced bread. Contact www.princessyachts.com
