II-VI introduces POLS Platform for 400ZR Ecosystem at OFC

Component, module, and subsystem vendor, II‐VI introduced a new pluggable optical line subsystem (POLS) platorm on its booth at OFC. Te platorm is designed to enable the emerging


400ZR coherent transceiver ecosystem for next- generation data centre interconnects (DCIs). Te backdrop to the launch is the rapid growth


of cloud computing, which is driving the upgrade cycle from 100G to 400G transmission in DCIs, spurring the demand for optical line systems that are more compact, power-efficient, and easier to install, configure, and operate. Te company’s initial product from the POLS


platorm is the OSFP-LS, designed in the compact OSFP form factor, that plugs directly into a DCI switch port and enables full-duplex multi- channel 400ZR transport, including multiplexing, demultiplexing, and variable-gain amplification. Te OSFP-LS supports up to eight DWDM wavelengths, or 3.2Tb/s per fibre pair.

Among its benefits, EKO offers total fibre visibility


at the most fundamental layers 0/1 of the physical network infrastructure, as well as continuous monitoring of optical power levels with real-time exception alerts. EKO also supports environment- related surveillance enabled by its integrated and non-intrusive out-of-band fibre line quality testing and reporting capability. Te company is currently undergoing field trials and expects to begin shipping in early summer.

Luna Innovations demonstrated its new, high resolution, portable reflectometer at OFC. Te Optical Backscater Reflectometer


(OBR) 6200 series performs advanced inspection and diagnostics of fibre optic assemblies and networks. Luna’s existing OBR technology provides


design, diagnostic and inspection capabilities to fibre-optic manufacturers, developers and installers by illustrating a map, in ultra-high resolution, of an optical link. OBR 6200 Series instruments are rugged,


hand-held reflectometers with ultra-high sensitivity for testing and troubleshooting short fibre optic networks up to 100m in length.
