Scott Freedman has been an analyst and portfolio manager in Newton’s fixed-income team for more than 10 years. He focuses on global investment-grade and high-yield bonds across several sectors, including energy, consumer and healthcare. Freedman has also developed his skills at Standard Bank, where he was a high-yield credit analyst, and at PwC.


Alan Pickering President BESTrustees


Alongside his role as president of independ- ent trustee services specialist BESTrustees, Pickering is a trustee of several pension schemes, including the Plumbing & Mechani- cal Services (UK) Industry Pension Scheme. He also chairs workplace retirement scheme the People’s Pension and holds the same role in the governance group of the Royal Mail Statutory Pension Scheme. His former roles include non-executive direc- tor of The Pensions Regulator and chair of the organisation that is now known as the Pen- sions and Lifetime Savings Association.


Mark Gull Head of fixed income Pension Insurance Corporation


Gull has been working in the debt markets for more than 35 years. He joined Pension Insurance Corporation as head of fixed income in 2007 following stints at Aviva, where he was a bond manager, and Gartmore, where he was head of credit.

Tomi Nummela works with investors through- out Europe on integrating ESG into their portfolios. He has a good grounding in considering ESG in investment decisions as prior to joining Mercer in early 2018 he spent eight years at the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), where he eventually led its investment practice development.


Jennifer O’Neill Senior responsible investment specialist Aon


Jennifer O’Neill has been a senior investment consultant at Aon for more than two years focusing on ESG and responsible investment. She has been an investment manager at Quilter Cheviot and risk consultant at Stand- ard Life.
