Kate Brett Head of responsible investment, Europe Mercer Investments


Kate Brett is a principal in Mercer’s wealth business and leads the firm’s responsible investment team in Europe. This has given her extensive experience of working with clients to ensure sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues are reflected in their investment strategies. She advises pension schemes, endowments, foun- dations and insurers on sustainability trends, regula- tory developments, climate change, stewardship and impact investing.


Lauren Peacock Campaign manager, pension industry ShareAction


Lauren Peacock joined ShareAction in 2016 and is a campaign manager leading the charity’s engagement with UK pension funds on responsible investment and climate change.


Prior to this, Peacock, who holds a MA in Sustain- able Cities from King’s College, worked in the ESG research team at stockbroker Kepler Cheuvreux.


Stephen Barrie Deputy director of ethics and engagement The Church of England Pensions Board


Stephen Barrie works across the Church of England Pensions Board’s investment stewardship activities. He previously served as secretary to the ethical investment advisory group, which advises the three Church of England investing bodies – which have around £12bn of combined assets under manage- ment – on ethical investment. He is a trustee director of the Church Investors Group and holds a doctorate from King’s College on ethics, intentions and side effects.


David Czupryna


Head of ESG client portfolio management Candriam


David Czupryna has been head of ESG client portfolio management at Candriam since September 2018. His role is to deliver Candriam’s sustainability credentials to European investors. The Cambridge graduate has previously led socially responsible investing (SRI) strategies in German- speaking countries at Sycomore Asset Management and in Northern Europe at Erste Asset Management.


Bridget Uku Group manager, treasury and investments London Borough of Ealing


Bridget Uku has been group investment manager at Ealing’s £1.3bn local authority pension scheme for 12 years and has more than 23 years’ senior management experience in the local authority invest- ment arena.


She was a member of the team responsible for establishing the £16bn London CIV to pool London’s local authority pension fund assets.


Anita Bhatia Investment director, endowment team Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity


As investment director at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity, Anita Bhatia is responsible for the invest- ment activities of the charity’s endowment and leads the development and implementation of its impact investing activities, which includes portfolio construction, investment selection and ongoing monitoring.


The Cambridge law graduate is also a non-executive director at Resonance, an impact fund and venture business, and chairs its risk committee. Previously, Bhatia developed impact investing funds at Barclays and worked on alternative strategies at AXA Investment Managers.


Uku is an independent adviser to the Royal College of Nurses Investment and Business Committee and is a member of the FTSERussell EMEA Equity Regional Advisory Committee.


Jonathan Levy


Investment portfolio manager Joseph Rowntree Foundation


Jonathan Levy is responsible for a diverse portfolio of social investments that have been made to con- tribute to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation’s long- term purpose of reducing poverty and disadvantage. His experience includes working at an asset man- ager and prior to that at a credit rating agency and corporate bank.
