Professional trustee specialist PTL has continued to strengthen its client director team through the appointment of Anne Sander. She is the seventh addition to the team in the past 18 months and brings a 30-year track record as a consultant, risk manager and trustee to the firm. Sander joins from Aviva Investors, where she was senior internal audit manager and interim head of internal audit. In this role she oversaw the risk management controls across all asset classes in the UK, Europe and the US.
She also chairs the audit, operations and governance committee for the £17bn Aviva Staff Pension Scheme. Independent Trustee Services expanded its
operations into Scotland
with the appointment of Pauline Gordon as a director.
An actuary by training, she has spent more than a quarter of a century working in the pensions industry. Gordon is a trustee of pension schemes sponsored by Reed Else- vier, Avon, the British Horseracing Author- ity and the Church of Scotland.

Brunel Pension Partnership has launched a £945m direct lending fund. Brunel Pri- vate Debt Portfolio for Cycle 2 (2020- 2022) will lend to corporates in Europe and North America.
Brunel is working with researcher and adviser Aksia to ensure that the debt is lent responsibly. LGPS Central has launched a £680m multi-asset credit fund after securing the backing of the local authority schemes of Cheshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and the West Midlands. The fund will be managed by BMO and Western Asset Management, which were selected ahead of more than 80 other asset managers. The mandate will be

BESTrustees has welcomed Chris Parrott as the latest edition of its team of profes- sional trustees. He has been managing pension schemes for almost 40 years, which latterly saw him at the helm of the retirement fund sponsored by Heathrow Airport. 20-20 Trustees has welcomed Angela Win- chester from Lloyds Banking as a trustee director, its first in Scotland. Meanwhile, the independent trustee provider has pro- moted Sue Quayle and Mandy Kaur-Sad- ler to trustee directors. Elsewhere, Andrew Freeman has been named a partner of Ndapt, an executive director and professional trustee network which was established last year. Former FT journalist and risk manage- ment specialist Freeman has worked in pensions and investing for two decades, which has included stints at Natixis and McKinsey.
Defined benefit (DB) retirement scheme consolidator Clara Pensions has named
equally split between the two managers. Long-term savings specialist Phoenix has launched a venture capital fund, which has an initial £100m to invest. The ESG-led fund, which has been created to diversify Phoenix’s portfolios, will invest in disruptive fintech, energy and healthcare start-ups. London CIV is just one public sector inves- tor that has backed a £1bn long income real estate fund managed by Aviva Inves- tors. Investments so far include ware- housing, offices, supermarkets and education.
