A LONG HUNDRED INSTALLATION, DRAWING, SCULPTURE


For the last 6 years, Frome based artist Lotte Scott has explored the landscape and history of the Somerset peat moors. A Long Hundred is an installation in the Abbot’s Fish House, a medieval fishery building owned by English Heritage. It showcases new works made in collaboration with Natural England - large, peat pigment drawings, alongside 120 torrified wooden sculptures, each the size of a traditional peat turve. Supported by Somerset Art Works’ Project Development Bursary (see page 46).

Directions: The Abbot’s Fish House is in a field off St Mary’s Road / Porter’s Hatch, Meare. Access is through a roadside gate and along a paved stone path. Parking is at Muddy Lane car park, a 5 minute walk from the Fish House.

Open all year, Somerset Crafts Gallery is an exciting arts and crafts centre in the heart of the Avalon Marshes celebrating the work of artists and makers living and working in Somerset. Inspired by the beautiful location, art works on show include ceramics, glass, jewellery, mosaics, paintings, photography, printmaking, sculpture, textiles and wood.


Refreshments available on site at Marshes Hub Tea Stop which is open all day. Enjoy beautiful walks along many well marked trails.
