Tulip tree – as well as distinctive foliage, the tulip tree has distinctive buds that are duck-bill shaped.


Sweet gum – denotes the taste of the gummy resin that the tree produces. It is among the first trees of the western hemisphere to be documented and the Aztecs called it xochiocotzoqualhuitl (I’m pretty sure I spelt that right!).
