Wales site managers awarded for house building excellence
Three house building site managers were crowned winners in the Wales finals of the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards 2018 at a ceremony held at Cardiff City Hall last week. Now in their 38th year, the awards organised by NHBC, the UK’s leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes, are the most highly regarded in the house-building industry. They recognise and reward a site manager’s dedication to achieving the highest standards in house building, and their commitment to building homes of outstanding quality. Mark O'Neill from Lovell Homes was named Large Builder category winner for The Mill, Cardiff. Commenting on what he enjoys most about his job, Mark said, "I love working with my colleagues and collectively trying to make a change to better ourselves and the homes we build." Dale Dickenson from Llanmoor Development Co Limited, won the Medium Builder category for the Padfield Court development in Tonyrefail, Glamorgan. Dale, who is a keen cyclist and golfer, started his construction career as a labourer and gradually moved

Michael Thomas from South Meadow Homes Ltd was crowned the Small Builder category winner for Gibba's Way, Pembroke. Michael started working for his family firm straight after leaving school, and has been winning Pride in the Job Awards for 18 years in a row now, an exceptional achievement. A further seven site managers across Wales were awarded with a Seal of Excellence at the ceremony having gained a Quality Award in the first round of the competition in June: • Gareth Davies from T I Davies A'I Fab Cyf for Maes Y Dderwen, Cardigan
• Stephen George from Westhaven Construction Ltd for Glenfields, Haverfordwest

Commenting on all the winners, NHBC Wales and West Regional Director, Paul Edwards said: “To reach this level of the competition means without question you are at the very top of the house-building industry. The winning site managers are all building homes to an exceptional standard and are worthy winners. “At NHBC we believe that recognising the outstanding workmanship of the best UK site managers plays an important role in raising the quality of homes for the benefit of the people who will live in them”. The Wales winners will now go on to compete for the ultimate title in house building, Supreme Award Winners, to be unveiled at a gala ceremony in January 2019.
