Welsh property firm donates £500 to Llanishen primary school for playground shelters
Welsh property developer Waterstone Homes has donated money to a local primary school to build brand new playground shelters. Te housebuilder has donated £500 to Coed Glas Primary School in Llanishen as part of its commitment to supporting and bringing value to the communities that it builds within. Te money will be used to construct new outdoor sun shelters for the school’s playground to protect pupils from the sun while playing and learning outdoors during the summer months. As well as the financial donation, pupils from the school also received a visit from the developer’s health and safety advisor, Ian John, to learn all about the importance of health and safety around building sites. During the presentation, the children heard about what they need to be aware of around building sites, before Waterstone Homes’ senior sales negotiator, Julie Turner, presented Assistant Headteacher Mrs Notley with the cheque. Te collaboration between the housebuilder and primary school comes as the property developer completes work on its latest residential development, Usk Field, made up of 20 luxury four and five bedroom homes in the centre of Llanishen. Coed Glas was chosen by Waterstone Homes to
receive its support due to its close proximity to the site. Te family firm wanted to inform schools nearby its Llanishen development, which has been developed in keeping with the style of the community, about the importance of safety around building sites. Te school also received high-vis jackets for school activities, as well as litter pickers, from the housebuilder. Mrs Notley, Assistant Headteacher at Coed Glas Primary School said: “We are extremely thankful to Waterstone Homes for their incredible generosity. Te shelters will help to transform the school’s outdoor space, offering high performance sun protection in the summer, as well as providing efficient shelter between classrooms, an extra spot to eat lunch and additional play areas. “Te site safety visit was also brilliant and extremely useful for our pupils. Living close to the development, it’s important that they understand how to be safe around potentially dangerous areas. Te children thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and are all excited to put what they have learnt into practice.” Andrea Gardner, sales and marketing director at Waterstone Homes said: “We’re so pleased to be helping Coed Glas school. Te donation will help go towards building important shaded areas for the
