Llangynidr Agricultural Show takes place on Bank Holiday Sunday 25th August at the village hall and surrounding show fields (SatNav NP8 1LS). Show Chairman Brian Cope said “We are very pleased to be able to welcome Kevin Walker, international mountaineer, author of multiple guides and navigation books, and local guide, to this year’s Show. Kevin will be opening the event at around midday, with gates being open from 9am.” Te day has something for everyone including traditional competition classes for sheep, cattle and horses (ridden, working hunter, in-hand and show jumping), as well as a dog show that can be entered on the day. Tere will be children and family races; children and adults can join in the fancy dress and scarecrow competitions

parade, Monmouthshire Beagles, Gizmo childrens’ entertainer and magic show, displays of gate hanging, ferret racing with audience participation, and a gun dog skills demo. You can see a coracle- making demonstration by the skilled Dylan Jones; watch cookery, floral art and shearing demonstrations; and enjoy Birds of Prey Displays from Black Mountains Falconry with audience participation. Llangynidr Garden Association will hold its annual garden and craſt show alongside the agricultural show (doors open around 2.00pm once judging is complete). With 169 different classes in horticulture, floral art, domestic and craſt for adults and children, the Show has broad appeal. City Hospice is Cardiff’s local hospice, looking aſter people with incurable and life limiting conditions, such as Cancer, Dementia, Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). To meet the increasing need for hospice care, the charity has launched their new fundraising project in the hope that donors will find new, fun ways of raising money to provide nursing care 365 days a year. £150 pays for a day of nursing care for patients

with life-limiting illnesses, making a big difference to the lives of patients and their families. Supporters can select to sponsor for a hospice nurse on a date that’s meaningful to them helping the charity cover the essential cost of their 14 nurses. Keen contributors who raise over £150 can cover multiple dates of hospice care. As well as medical support, nursing and end of life care, City Hospice also offers day therapy activities for patients and carers, as well as counselling, bereavement coffee mornings and children’s bereavement groups.
