Billie’s never had any new stuff and, instead of spending time with her friends, she oſt en has to look aſt er her sisters. Once, money was so tight that the gas was cut off for three weeks. T ey didn’t have any heating or hot water so they couldn’t cook or do the washing. Billie and her sisters


were embarrassed about wearing smelly clothes to school. T anks to the BBC Children in Need Emergency Essentials Programme at Buttle UK, Billie is getting a new bed so the whole family can have a good night’s sleep. Her mum is learning how to manage her money and how to keep the house cleaner so it’s a safe place for Billie and her sisters. *To protect her identity, the child’s name has been changed but her story is real.
