Nai Marks 1st Year Anniversary by helping 200 Families

WELSH autistic charity Nai has celebrated its first year by supporting more than 200 families in Wales. TV presenter Gethin Jones and lawyer Sion Tudur set-up Nai to help the lives of those living with autism, after young relatives were diagnosed with autism themselves. It has raised £12,000 already, and ‘the small charity with the big voice’ has been able to support 10 family seminars across Swansea, Bridgend, Treorchy, and Haverfordwest, attended by the 200 families. autism and how it impacts the whole family; understanding it from an early age, managing sensory issues, behaviour, sibling support and the transition to adulthood. Donna Sharland, director of AutSiDe Education and Consultancy said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Nai to deliver much needed family seminars across four local authority areas. Families often feel very isolated especially when they first receive an autism diagnosis.

parents to come along meet other parents and learn more about autism, in a safe and friendly environment. We are passionate about supporting families and ensure the best possible outcomes for children with autism.” Colin Foster, from Life with Autism RCT, was thrilled to find out there was funding for running seminars. He said: “Life with autism for families can be very difficult. Not knowing what services are available and how to access them as well as feeling isolated and alone can make families feel vulnerable. The idea that this charity wants to help is really inspiring and we can’t thank them enough for their kindness and support”
Nai is now launching its latest fund- raiser ‘Tri Tri Nai’ with Sion pulling on his wetsuit, climbing on his bike and lacing up his trainers for three full triathlons – Cardiff, London, and then Bala in September. The Wildlife Trust debuts first ever Pop-Up Wildlife Garden in the Capital
Did you know that there is more space managed as garden in the UK than all nature reserves put together? Imagine what a difference we could make if everyone did something for wildlife in their gardens. The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales are reaching out to Cardiff residents to encourage people to garden with wildlife in mind.
The Wildlife Trust’s ‘My Wild Cardiff’ project, funded with the generous support of the players of People’s Postcode Lottery, is helping people around Cardiff welcome their wildlife neighbours into their gardens. As part of the My Wild Cardiff project, The Wildlife Trust are creating a ‘Pop-up’ Wildlife Garden in Cardiff’s largest park. Designed by Shani Lawrence Garden Designs, the garden features a pond, a living lawn, a green roof and plenty of homes for wildlife. The temporary garden will serve to inspire visitors and give them ideas as to how they can improve their own gardens for wildlife. The garden will be open to visitors from Monday 7th August until Sunday 20th August, 10:30am – 6pm. Find us next to the Summerhouse Café in Bute Park.
