Iveco vehicles are the 1st Choice
1st Choice Tool & Plant Hire of Greenford has replaced its entire delivery vehicle fleet with 12 Iveco Daily light commercial models, comprising two 3.5-tonne panel vans plus eight 3.5-tonne and two 7.2-tonne chassis cabs. MD Rob Cox said, “We need a rugged vehicle that can handle our
day-to-day work, especially as we transport diggers, dumpers and 3-tonne excavators.” All 12 models have been supplied with a five-year repair and
maintenance contract, and each is estimated to clock up 35,000 miles a year serving customers in London and the south-east of England.
Alide makes a Splash
Alide Hire has bought two X-Splash wash bays from Trime UK for its depots in Bristol and Bath. The product is an ecological cleaning system for plant and
machinery, designed to prevent soil pollution and contamination of drains from oil, grease and similar substances. It has a modular drainage base with a micro-switch in the rear solids collection tank set to activate the drainage pump when the water reaches a pre-set level. The unit incorporates separation tanks for oil, water and solids,
and an anti-slip ramp facilitates loading plant on to and away from the wash bay work area.

Showman’s Show goes greener
The organiser of the Showman’s Show, to be held at Newbury Showground on 17 and 18 October, has previously announced several environmentally friendly initiatives for the event, including a car sharing scheme for visitors and exhibitors, and encouraging those attending to bring re-usable water bottles to reduce plastic waste. Changes have also been made to
the Show’s Green Supplier and Innovation Award, which will see three shortlisted exhibitors deliver a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style presentation to a panel of sustainability experts, in front of an audience of event organisers. For more details visit
