FURNITURE THAT HARMONISES PERFECTLY WITH THE SPACE IT IS INTENDED FOR

SINCE the launch of the ICON 40 Chair by ICS Furniture in 2018, its style, flexibility, functionality and comfort, has seen it become the chair of choice for church refurbishment and reordering. From medieval to modern churches there is always one need that comes at the very top of the list and that is, flexible seating. This affords them the ability to allow their space to be used in a variety of ways. Here ICS furniture highlight three projects from the ICON 40 portfolio.

Modern Design meets Medieval Splendour in St Mary’s Church Warwick

St Marys Church Warwick encapsulates English history and stunning architecture while creating a place for peaceful prayer. Founded in 1123 by Roger de Newburgh, the Earl of Warwick this 300+ Capacity Church houses the Beaucamp Chapel, a magnificent example of the European ecclesiastical architecture of its time, and ranks as one of this country’s greatest treasures. St Mary’s Church is a popular venue for a range of concerts, drama events and art exhibitions. There came a real need to change the old church chairs to allow for greater flexibility to accommodate these wide- ranging events. The answer to this came in the form of the ICON 40 Chair.

St Pauls Church Slough: Reordering and Refurbishment

St Paul's was built more than 100 years ago. Its recent renovations have seen the church remove their pews and level the floor area. The pews were replaced with the ICON 40 chair to create a more usable space. The intentional mixture of chairs with cross carvings and plain backs adds a further style dimension to this project.

Award Winning Renovation requiring flexibility

Christ Church Downend, Bristol was built in 1836 and is Grade II listed church. The refurbishment works included removal of pews to allow for full flexibility in how the space could be used by the parish. For this purpose, the church chose the ICON 40 chair. The stunning renovation of the church made Christ Church Downed Winners of the Bristol DAC Awards 2019 for ‘Recognising Exceptional Church Project‘.
