MB: What do you love most about working in this industry? PvB: This industry has turned my life into a lifestyle full of travel, adventures, meeting other cultures and entering new markets. The passion for the industry keeps me going. Although at the end of this year, after working for Vekoma for 33 years, I am retiring and looking forward to spending more time with my family and friends. I have always worked with a great team and leave them with confidence. My thoughts will always be connected to the leisure industry and Vekoma will hold a special place in my heart.
MB: What is your proudest career moment to date? PvB: I am most proud of a deal for 50 roller coasters for the Kidzone parks of Transmart Carrefour in Indonesia, including the financing. And working with the Fantawild Group in China to develop a portfolio of unique coasters and attractions. This collaboration allowed Vekoma to contribute to the growth and success of both companies.
MB: For you, what are the key criteria when it comes to creating an amazing ride?
PvB: A ride that gives me adrenaline rush and goosebumps!
MB: Do you have an all-time favourite ride? PvB: different positions, creating a free view dark ride section combined with a thrill, makes this ride type a one of a kind in the roller coaster industry. With F.L.Y., we have created a flying experience like never seen before in the world.
MB: Can you tell us about any exciting upcoming Vekoma projects? PvB: We have developed a series of new exciting roller coasters with launches and special effects and some of them are opening at Vidanta in Mexico in the near future.
