Getting the most out of your classroom technology I


n our first feature this month looking at the use of technology in the classroom we’re delighted to hear from LapSafe®, the UK’s industry leading expert in providing innovative and proficient charging solutions.


Using technology is part of our everyday lives and virtually unavoidable. We all have a responsibility to ensure that our children are well equipped and prepared for the world we live in, today and in the future.


Students of all ages need to get the most out of technology in the classroom. Whether it be, primary schools using devices in the classroom to support learning through to university students using devices for research there is a place for technology.


The Education Technology Survey 2020-21 explained that “overall, schools perceived that the EdTech they have used has saved them time, reduced teacher’s workload, and contributed to improved pupil attainment. In particular, schools have relied heavily on EdTech to deliver remote education and positively, the majority believed that they could effectively support pupils to learn remotely.”


Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, EdTech in classrooms transformed. Remote learning became essential, therefore relying on good access to technology. The digital divide became even

more prominent as not all students had access to technology and consequently made remote learning a challenge.


At the beginning of the pandemic the education sector was forced to move quickly to provide learning online. Providing access to appropriate technology was paramount and many schools, colleges and universities made huge investments to provide devices such as laptops, tablets and Chromebooks to students allowing them to work from home. Coming back into the classroom, and to assist bridge the digital gap, LapSafe® has worked hard to bring the education sector easy ways of device management as well as providing Smart Lockers that allow devices to be shared, quickly and easily without staff interaction.


Not all schools can provide one to one access to devices, and few have the space to house large traditional PC suites.
