years. According to the UK Institute for Government, supply chain issues have been caused by a combination of labour shortages, Brexit trade barriers and global supply problems triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic. Supply chain bottlenecks are expected to


continue in the near future, with maritime shipping giants advising that disruption in key ports will last into 2023. To make things worse, recent geopolitical conflicts have contributed to the supply chain crisis. Likewise, there are global shortages of materials


coming from countries including China – whose government officials have adopted stricter lockdown measures since 2020 than Western economies. Coupled with the lack of lorry drivers in Britain and the unprecedented port congestion in all of Europe, the ongoing challenges are set to continue well into 2023 which a real cause for concern for the kitchen industry.
