BMA – Representing the bathroom manufacturing sector for a bright future
The Bathroom Manufacturers Association is driven by a clear mission and purpose. Combine this sense of purpose with a considered and well-articulated strategy, and the result is an organisation making an impact for its members across three areas of sustained focus: reducing our environmental impact, raising standards, and understanding and growing the market.
We are proud to say BMA is a growing association; this is a testament to the success of our sector, the appeal of our goals, and the engagement of our manufacturers. BMA now boasts some of the biggest and best names in the world of bathrooms, and these businesses know their role in achieving the UK’s environmental ambitions.
Our association devotes much time to environmental ambitions for the sector, whether through our regular Sustainability Forum events, our Sustainability Awards, or engaging with our members’ environmental efforts, including new government water efficiency ambitions.
Quality manufacturers also care about product compliance, which is a message we repeat to the Government to bring about greater levels of market surveillance and increase compliance in the whole market. At the BMA, our members determine the direction of travel and shape all our activities.
Our highlight of the year is our Annual Industry Conference, which brings together the leaders in our sector for two days of inspiring talks, networking, and activities. Our 2024 Conference is no different.
The BMA Annual Industry Conference 2024
On September 16 and 17, at the landmark Queen’s Hotel in Leeds, we will host two days of dynamic speakers, engaging activities, and networking opportunities.
This year’s theme, ‘Building Growth,’ aligns perfectly with the current industry trends and the broader national landscape. As the UK embarks on a crucial election year, the nation will be deciding which political party will get their backing to deliver growth for the economy, their personal prospects, business growth and, crucially, the persistent challenge of solving the crisis in our housing market to ‘get Britain building’. The conference will explore the conditions influencing our industry and the strategies necessary for sustainable growth.
The first day is dedicated to BMA members and features a series of specialised workshops. Our relaxed networking dinner in the evening will have a nostalgic ‘90s theme and a pub quiz. Teams will compete for a coveted prize, making for an evening of fun and friendly rivalry.
What’s on the agenda?
Day one, September 16, begins with a Marketing Workshop analysing how to use AI and digital innovation for a more profitable bathroom sector, a workshop from Aurik on how to build your business into your greatest wealth-generating asset, and finally, a Technical Workshop detailing what manufacturers need to know about the presence of, and legislation surrounding per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
Following a full day of stimulating workshops and activities, our networking dinner is a chance to unwind and network in an informal atmosphere. We are planning a ’90s theme along with a ‘pub quiz’ for teams to pit their wits against each other, with a prize for the winning team.
Day two, September 17, begins with open sessions led by industry experts starting at 11:00 AM. These sessions include Jo Salter, famed for becoming the first female fast jet pilot and now a renowned motivational speaker, who will discuss “The Growth Mindset.” Mohammed Chaudhri, Experian’s Chief Economist and Director of Market Intelligence, will provide insights on economic trends and if growth is realistic, especially pertinent as we may have a new government at the helm.
The ever-popular Big Debate will address the glaring inadequacy of housing stock, which has resulted in the UK grappling with a long-running housing crisis with far-reaching consequences for citizens and the economy.
The day will culminate with our keynote speaker, Oliver Heath, an industry-recognised expert in biophilic design and sustainable architectural and interior design, who will outline what the future of building has to offer.
The second evening promises to be
unforgettable. It will start with a networking drinks reception and be followed by a black- tie Gala Dinner. The dinner will feature a four- course menu, and the BMA’s inaugural Thirty Under Thirty Awards will be presented. Proceeds from a raffle and auction will benefit our charity partner for 2024, the Band of Builders.
