The Bathroom Manufacturers Association - the recognised and
respected voice of the industry The multi award-winning Bathroom Manufacturers Association is at the forefront of the bathroom industry, representing manufacturers in the key areas of sustainability, making life easier, training and education, technical issues, and marketing and lobbying.
The BMA also organises the Bathroom and Kitchen Business Conference which is held annually and which attracts high profile business leaders for a day of thought-provoking presentations and discussion, networking, exhibition, gala dinner and media awards.
The trade association can trace its roots back to 1911, representing the interests of the bathroom industry for over 100 years. It is the key link between the industry and its customers, installers, government and media.
The BMA’s technical activity is the back bone of the Association. Through our contacts at Industry Committees and at European Standards Committees, we keep track of the latest legislation, regulations and performance standards and regularly disseminate information to members. The BMA’s work in water and energy efficiency has been recognised as a valuable contribution to sustainability in the construction industry. The BMA’s technical library is a precious source of information for members.
Lobbying on behalf of the membership (doing what individual members couldn’t do themselves) is a key role of the Association. Two major campaigns are currently being undertaken. The first is Hot Water Burns Like Fire - this is aimed at stopping scalding accidents by raising awareness of the dangers of hot water and by promoting the use of simple thermostatic devices to eliminate the risks. Secondly, the BMA is lobbying government for correct policing of the CE Mark which became legally binding in 2013. There is evidence that across Europe, the CE Marking regulation is being ignored and the Construction Industry is being affected. National governments and the European Commission are being lobbied to improve market surveillance.
The Marketing and Training functions of the BMA are driven by active committees which are keen to provide members with a wealth of information and promote the interests of the industry.
The BMA is the respected ‘Voice of the Bathroom Industry’ and its strength lies in the quality of its growing membership.
