South Tyneside Council is celebrating a major milestone in its commitment to improve outcomes for looked after children with the completion of three new, purpose- built children’s homes across the Borough. PSB discovers more...


The homes, located in South Shields, Hebburn and Jarrow, have been carefully designed to provide safe, nurturing and high-quality environments for looked after children, and where supported accommodation may be needed for older children moving towards independence. Together, they form a central part of the Council’s long-term


strategy to support children closer to home, reduce reliance on costly out-of-borough placements, and ensure children grow up connected to their communities, schools, friends and family networks wherever possible. 
