Mobile chipset market will be bigger than $95bn by 2032, says research
By Future Market Insights analysts T
he market for chipsets for mobile devices will reach $95.6bn in 2032, growing at a compound annual rate (CAGR) of 20.7%. With perpetually changing
consumer requirements, smartphone manufacturers continue to modify their devices’ configurations, supported by technologically-evolving chips.
Processors Te days when mobile phone desirability was judged only by their appearance and screen size – or, indeed, a brand name – are now gone; mobile phones today are expected to deliver lower power consumption, greater connectivity, more memory, faster speeds and advanced features. With constantly changing consumer requirements, smartphone manufacturers
continue to modify their configurations, supported with technologically- evolving chips
their chipsets and lowering their power consumption. Nowadays, chipsets are system-on-chip (SoC) offerings,
which typically contain CPUs, graphics cards, memory controllers and many other components, with two or more core processors on board. Packing all these components in a SoC, however, leads to higher manufacturing costs, which in turn increases competition but also growth in counterfeit products.
Geo split Te global market for mobile chipsets is segmented based on the number of processor cores and their clock speed: 800MHz- 1.5GHz, 1.6GHz-2.5GHz and 2.6GHz-3.5GHz. Region wise, North America dominates this market purely
because of the large number of mobile phone manufacturers being there; Western Europe follows, then Eastern Europe. Further east, the Asia-Pacific region and Japan are expected
to grow at the highest CAGR in the forecast period to 2032 due to the increase in mobile phone users in developing countries such as India. Lastly, the Middle East and Latin America regions are expected to grow at a slower CAGR.
Mobile chipset vendors Currently, the key players in the field of mobile chipsets are NVIDIA, Intel, Qualcomm Technologies, Zhuhai All tech Technology, Samsung and MediaTek.
