Why chickens rule the reels – the Onlyplay view
Onlyplay outlines how chicken-themed games emerged as a distinctive part of its portfolio, driven by demand for fast, clear player engagement. The studio argues that simple, expressive concepts, executed with strong design and immediate feedback, are shaping current iGaming trends and infl uencing how developers approach mobile-fi rst content and thematic identity.
t Onlyplay, we build games around one core idea – players want fast emotional engagement. Clear themes, strong visuals, and instant understanding are essential. This is exactly why chicken-themed games became a natural part of our portfolio. We did not follow a trend – we helped shape it. Chickens are simple, expressive, and globally familiar. But more importantly, they allow creative freedom. They can be playful, chaotic, or exaggerated. This makes them perfect for modern, mobile-fi rst gameplay.
A
CHICKEN-THEMED CONTENT Our portfolio refl ects this direction across several titles. Chix is our crash game, where the character brings energy into a fast-paced format. Chicken Plinko explores the theme through dynamic physics and visual interaction. Now, 3 Rich Chickens takes another direction – turning the idea into a colourful slot with a strong personality. The market today clearly shows a rise in chicken-themed content. Many providers use similar ideas. But from our perspective, the difference is in execution. It is not enough to have chickens – they must look and feel right. We focus on visual quality, clean animation, and expressive design. This is why our chickens stand out – they are more polished, more vibrant, and more appealing. This became especially visible during ICE Barcelona. At the exhibition, we had a mascot from Chicken Plinko – a simple, recognisable
chicken. It has no specifi c name. We just call it ‘the chicken,’ and that is enough. Visitors immediately understand it, react to it, and engage with it. The character moved across the fl oor, attracted attention, and naturally brought people to our stand.
What followed was even more interesting. Many of our partners now keep toy chickens in their offi ces or bring them to events. This was not planned. It happened organically. A simple visual idea turned into a shared symbol across different teams. This kind of effect cannot be forced – it appears when a concept truly connects.
3 Rich Chickens builds on this idea with a focus on clarity and visual identity. The game uses a familiar 5×3 layout – simple and easy to enter – but creates a vibrant farm setting where chickens are at the centre of the experience.
The concept of ‘rich chickens’ adds contrast. It mixes something ordinary with something exaggerated. This makes the theme more memorable without adding complexity. Eggs, coins, and pots are easy to understand and naturally connected to the gameplay.
We also focus on rhythm and feedback. Every action is visible. Every reward feels immediate. This is critical for modern players, especially on mobile devices. The game works instantly, without the need for explanation.
A POWERFUL TOOL
From our perspective, the rise of chicken- themed games refl ects a broader shift. Players are moving toward simple, expressive, and easy-to-understand experiences. Strong visuals and fast engagement loops matter more than complex concepts.
Chickens may seem like a simple choice. But when executed correctly, they become a powerful tool – and for us, a recognisable part of the Onlyplay identity.
