Silverson’s range of workheads for increased versatility

Silverson Machines explain the uses of the comprehensive range of workheads and screens available for all Silverson High Shear Mixers in their latest video. The video demonstrates how the exceptionally vigorous mixing action provided by the General Purpose Disintegrating Head makes it ideal for disintegrations of solids, while the fine perforations in Emulsor Screens (pictured) provide a fine globule size, ensuring stability in emulsions. These easily interchangeable workheads offer great versatility by allowing any machine to be adapted to perform a wide range of mixing operations including emulsifying, homogenising, disintegrating, dissolving, dispersing, blending, particle size reduction and de-agglomerating. Changing from one head or screen to another is quick and simple. You can find out more about the range of workheads, screens and Multistage configurations in the video or on the Silverson website.

ABB is launching two new variants of its GoFaTM collaborative robot. The GoFa 10 and GoFa 12 offer new possibilities for companies to leverage cobot automation for enhanced efficiency. Handling payloads of up to 10 and 12 kilograms with market-leading repeatability, the cobots can handle an expanded range of tasks in close collaboration with workers, addressing skills and labor shortages while improving safety and productivity. Offering straightforward programming and rapid integration into production environments, the new variants lower barriers to entry for first-time users, educators and SMEs. “Since we launched our YuMi cobot in 2015, we have built an industry-leading cobot portfolio meeting growing demand for safe and easy-to-use automation solutions to plug gaps in skilled labor,” said Marc Segura President, ABB Robotics. “Addressing the need for collaborative robots with higher payloads and longer reach, our GoFa 10 and 12 cobots extend the benefits of automation to new industrial applications, even for first time users.”

Bespoke gas cylinder attachment provides safe and secure handling at A-Gas

A-Gas was founded in 1993 in Bristol, UK, by founder and pioneer John Rutley, and co-founder John Cooper. Together, they saw opportunities to build a new business that could support the HVACR industry with the transition away from Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). Today, as A-Gas celebrates its 30th anniversary, a leading supplier of refrigerants to the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration industries, has evolved to become a world leader in lifecycle refrigerant management, spanning 7 continents and 14 countries. A-Gas’ first-class recovery, reclamation, and repurposing processes capture refrigerant gases

for future re-use or safe destruction, preventing their harmful release into the atmosphere. A-Gas’ site in Bristol is the largest refrigerant reclamation facility in Europe. In addition to this, A-Gas has deployed many of its innovative solutions across other regions, from the Netherlands to Australia, the USA and more.

Smart 3D laser line profiling

JLS Automation supplies simple, easy-to-use hygienic robotic packaging solutions for the food industry that solve complex packaging challenges. Designed for sanitary environments, JLS custom vision-guided primary and secondary robotic packaging systems are user-friendly, easy to operate, fast to start-up, and ensure both worker and food safety. Their proprietary robotic tooling and high-speed leak detection systems have been awarded several patents. JLS prides itself on offering unrivalled partnership and aftermarket support to its customers.

The Challenge

JLS has provided vision-guided Osprey case packing systems for many years using conventional 2D vision with smart cameras. The systems perform well, but JLS is always looking to improve their product offering, so they conducted a review of alternative technologies and suppliers in 2021. One of the greatest challenges is the range of package colours that need to be handled by individual systems, and the frequency that the graphics change.

Rubix MCA division companies exhibit at Machine Building Live for the first time

A core division of Rubix, Europe’s leading distributor of industrial maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) products and services, the MCA division consists of Matara, KJN and newcomer Gapp Automation that joined in April of this year. Whilst the companies will have their own stands - Matara stand 46, KJN stand 37, and Gapp stand 70 - they will be easily recognisable as part of the Rubix MCA division thanks to their similar style and graphics and the presence of Rubix’ distinct branding. Until now, Matara, KJN and Gapp Automation have mostly worked independently of each other, although Matara already had an established relationship with Gapp prior to them joining Rubix, selling its linear actuators with Gapp’s Delta drives and controls.
