Beckhoff, German manufacturer has eliminated 100% of stretch wrap within their supply chain by switching to the Loadhog Pallet Lid.
Loadhog is a leading global supplier and manufacturer of returnable transit packaging. Their goal is to provide businesses with sustainable solutions to help them achieve better efficiency and less waste. The Pallet Lid has improved the operations for Beckhoff in a number of ways, increasing efficiency,
safety and saving valuable time. It is significantly faster to apply the tensioning straps on the Pallet Lid than it is to stretch wrap a pallet. Over the last 20 years, businesses have been securing six loads in the time it takes to wrap one. This increased efficiency, reduces costs in all areas and allows employees to work more effectively.
Beckhoff is a manufacturer of industrial automation solutions, renowned for their innovative PC-based control technology and commitment to open standards. Since they have started using the Pallet Lid, it has reduced the impact their supply chain has on the environment and has reduce packaging costs across the business. Using the Pallet Lid has saved time when transporting goods through its quick securing staps, and no cutting of film or banding has increased the level of safety for staff, helping to provide better well- being for employees. Ralf-Peter Harraß, Head of Central Dispatch at Beckhoff, said: “In the past, stretch film was used to secure loads on pallets for the shuttle transport of manufactured goods within the Beckhoff Group, even for very short distances in lorry traffic. The Loadhog Pallet Lids with integrated tension belts have minimised the time required to secure the containers on the pallet. In addition, it is now possible to open and secure the pallet at any location without any machines or external aids.”

The whole range of packaging solutions at PPMA
Shrink wrapping, ecommerce bagging and packaging materials will all be represented at the Yorkshire Packaging Systems (YPS) stand at this year’s PPMA Show.
Stand E20 will feature YPS’ brand new materials display, showing a selection of the huge range of films and ecommerce bagging options that the company holds in its extensive warehousing facility. The company is expecting that the new display will be a talking point for those interested in exploring their packaging material options.
Also featured will be two bagging machines, side by side, one running paper and one running polybags, so visitors can see the material options for these machines in action. These vertical bagging machines are designed to maximise efficiency and throughput for operations who are preparing products for mailing. They feature advanced technology including integrated data banks, labellers, scanners, and printers (including direct on-bag printing) for a secure all-in-one solution.
Shrink wrapping solutions will also be demonstrated at the stand, with two machines for
visitors to view. “YPS can offer such a wide range of shrink-wrapping options that it’s difficult for us to choose just a couple to show at an event. The two we’ve selected demonstrate different capabilities as a starting point for discussing the perfect solution for visitors’ operations,” commented YPS MD Glyn Johnson.
