team work with the client to specify and design purpose-built boiler plant rooms including all ancillary feed, fuel and blow down tanks including water softening equipment. These plant rooms can be containerised or in purpose built pre-fabricated boiler houses; both giving a true turnkey project with minimal site work. By hiring, the massive capital outlay of purchasing new plant is avoided, full servicing and maintenance costs are covered and staff training is available.

One hospital in the Midlands, on inspection, had its boilers condemned as being no longer fit for purpose and after a brief period of hiring some aging hire units turned to Byworth for more efficient modern plant. That was six years ago - the smooth operation and reliability, which is paramount to any efficient business, let alone a hospital, as well as the cost savings enjoyed, has led to 100% of the hospital’s heating needs now being met with Byworth Hire boilers. “The NHS needs vary. Sterile services


at two major London hospital sites are being supported by Byworth Hire boilers; in Leeds the Blood Bank's transfusion service relies on our boilers on contract, whilst in Liverpool we are covering a new

build site with back-up supply. “In the food and drink manufacturing


industry where supply needs to be flexible to meet demand on a daily basis we have been called in to look at providing a solution to either increased demand on capacity or to shore up ageing plant. One such example, a drinks manufacturer, first acquired a temporary boiler from us five years ago to cover the annual inspection of its on-site boilers which were showing signs of aging and were not fit for expansion. A steam metering exercise was put in place to achieve an understanding of the actual site load , culminating in a year-long contract of a 3500kg.hr boiler to run the site whilst the aging plant was disengaged. Increased demand in the company’s order book led this to be increased to a 4500kg/hr trailerised boiler. After a further 12 months’ contract hire, the options between outright purchase or long term contract hire was discussed; hire the chosen option. This avoided the massive capital outlay whilst still enjoying a turnkey solution and the capacity to expand. The new boiler has enabled significant fuel savings and reduced maintenance costs due to its higher efficiency and being able to run on LPG instead of red diesel. The site has seen a fuel saving of around 43% since commissioning in April 2020 on a like for like basis. A testimony to much improved efficiencies.”
