SHOWCASE u Mitsubishi Electric
Smart manufacturing solutions M
itsubishi Electric recently showcased its Smart Manufacturing solutions at the National Manufacturing Exhibition in the
RDS, Dublin. The manufacturer created a demo cube stand to house technology such as MAPS 4, the SCADA solution for control and visualisation, the GOT Rugged HMI, the latest in inverter technology- E800, advanced PLCs and the GOT Drive solution.
The demo stand also showcased the TSN (Time sensitive Network) network; CC-Link IE TSN, which is the first to combine gigabit Ethernet bandwidth with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN). It has increased openness while further strengthening performance and functionality.
SMART MANUFACTURING Mitsubishi Electric has built on its experience in industrial robots to develop a COBOT range that addresses the real world challenges of different applications and sectors. For delicate and precise tasks, for example in pharmaceutical production, MELFA Assista COBOTs offer a repeatability of ±0.03mm. They can easily be combined with vision technology, making them ideal for use in applications covering everything from dosing mixing and counting to dispensing, inspecting and marking medications.
Designed to assist human operators on the shop floor, COBOTs can take on simple, repetitive and physically strenuous tasks. This offers improved consistency and reliability in manufacturing while enabling humans to concentrate on more complex jobs. A COBOT is also flexible and can quickly learn to adapt to a variety of tasks, from picking and placing to machine tending. A key benefit of COBOTs is their ease of programming, enabling frequent redeployment and fast set-up without advanced robotic programming expertise. One recent development which can improve the ease and speed of configuration is hand-guided teaching, where the MELFA ASSITA COBOT arm from Mitsubishi Electric can be simply moved to the desired position and added to the operational sequence at the press of a button. Operators then press a single button on the teaching panel of the arm and the position is added to the robot program. Combining this with an intuitive, touch-enabled, graphical programming tool – RT VisualBox – makes it easier to build sophisticated applications without any programming knowledge. This technology means that no complex
programming is required, and it can also be combined with touch-screen graphical interfaces to implement more sophisticated operations.

REMOTE SOLUTIONS The GOT Mobile function of the Mitsubishi Electric HMIs allows you to monitor your work from a remote location. The mobile function enables operators to check the equipment status using a web browser on tablets from a remote location. Up to five information devices can simultaneously access a single GOT so that you can view and operate a different screen on each device. Mitsubishi Electric’s GT Works3 screen design
software allows the system designer to easily change screen sizes depending on used devise. The GOT Drive is a GOT project that is a fully
configured to connect directly to an inverter drive to display the drive parameters and settings. The GOT Drive enhanced functionality is designed to eliminate the need for additional hardware, software and suits customer applications to realise central monitoring, speed up system start-up, improve predictive maintenance and troubleshooting. To configure your GOT and inverter simply select the required connection type to match your system configuration and follow the simple three step process for set up. Multiple inverters can be monitored with one GOT by switching the target station number. There are various sample screens that can be used with the GOT2000 for inverter parameter setting, batch monitoring, and machine diagnosis (load characteristics measurement), as well as many more. Use the sample screens for easy system start-up.
LOW VOLTAGE SOLUTIONS Mitsubishi Electric offers a full range of low-voltage switchgears and compact, safe and easy-to-use motor starters. Its low voltage circuit breakers have advanced breaking functionality, and are available for use in a wide range of applications. The Air Circuit Breakers have many advantages, among them adding higher reliability during switching. They can be used to extend the area of selective coordination through expansion of the rated short-time withstand current, for use in main circuit ports.
Mitsubishi Electric’s MS-T/N Series Motor
Starters are environmentally friendly, internationally usable, compact, easy to use and safe. The contactors enable precise control for your motor, allowing you to remotely control other loads than motors, such as heaters (resistors) and lighting loads. The motor circuit breakers are capable of protecting motor branch circuits from overload, phase-loss, and short-circuit, offering even more secure wiring and motor protection. Mitsubishi Electric
