Solutions from Ruland Beam couplings for robotics applications
Ruland beam couplings are ideal for surgical, warehouse, and industrial robotics due to their increased torque and torsional stiffness and ability to accommodate all forms of misalignment. Ruland manufactures four-beam couplings for encoders and six-beam couplings for light-duty power transmission, such as connecting a stepper or servo motor to a lead screw. This allows robotic designers to design a standard beam coupling into most systems. Ruland machines beam couplings from a single piece of aluminium or stainless steel for a zero-backlash design and maintenance-free service life. New operator assistance solutions from Hyster® support tough industries
Two new optional systems from Hyster Europe may support lift truck operator awareness in industrial applications. The Dynamic Pedestrian Awareness Light and Reverse Speed System are available factory- fitted to selected electric and IC Hyster® forklifts.

The Dynamic Pedestrian Awareness Light features compact blue LEDs which can be mounted to the front or rear of a counterbalance lift truck. They project a progressively flashing blue arrow pattern in a straight line on the floor.
The patent-pending Reverse Speed System places a sensor next to the rear drive handle on the lift truck which can detect if there is a hand placed on the handle. If there is, it will allow the lift truck to reach full reverse speed.
