Here comes the sun!

Welcome to the May issue of DIY Week. It’s hard to believe we are almost halfway through the year already, but as I write this the sun is out and we are hopefully able to look forward to a much better summer than last year in terms of being able to see our friends and relatives and maybe even take a holiday. As we make our way along the government’s post-Covid roadmap and carefully negotiate the inevitable bumps along the way, there does seem to be a lot more positivity around, which bodes well for consumer confidence and the increased business it should be bring.

This summer we are also looking forward to once again hosting the DIY Week Awards. Now in their tenth year, the quality of entries is as high as ever, with some great new and innovative products being put forward in all categories. The event will take on a slightly different form for 2021 as we move it online and stream live to a global audience. Our independent panel of esteemed judges are already examining and deliberating over the entries in order to draw up a shortlist and decide the winners of these very hard fought and much sought-after accolades. We’re offering you a taste of some of the entries in both the supplier and retailer categories in this issue starting on page 9. And we’ll have more details about the shortlisted entries and how you can participate in the event and join DIY professionals from all over the world for our live-streamed event in the next issue. In the meantime please visit the event’s website at www.diyweekawards.co.uk to keep up with the latest news and information.
