NEWS Flowerpot merger announced
Naylor Gardenware has agreed to merge with Smith & Jennings with effect from Friday 1 March 2024.
Naylor is a fourth generation family business which has been manufacturing clay pipes and other ceramic products since its foundation in 1890; its Yorkshire Flowerpot range dates back to the early 1990s. Smith & Jennings is a Welsh based manufacturer of high quality glazed and terracotta ware, founded by ceramicist Simon Smith in 2013.
The combined entity will be called British Flowerpots and will be based in new purpose- built manufacturing premises in Barnsley. The business will be headed by MD Simon Smith & General Manager Liz Hudston and will offer a comprehensive

B&Q Marketplace to update on developments at BHETA webinar
BHETA is to hold a second retailer networking webinar with the B&Q Marketplace initiative to include an update on the latest developments. The speaker will be Holly Love, Marketplace Business Development Manager at B&Q and the event takes place Tuesday 12th March at 10am. Holly is recruiting 3P merchants for B&Q and will talk for 20 minutes about B&Q’s marketplace, progress, future opportunities and how to onboard, followed by a Q&A session for 10-15 minutes. The B&Q Marketplace proposition is that choice is vital for consumers when it comes to home improvement. Through its marketplace proposition, B&Q is expanding existing ranges. The event is for BHETA members. Non-members who are

PEOPLE NEWS Obituary: Arnold Kammerling (1935 – 2024)
Carl Kammerling International are sad to announce that Arnold Kammerling, former Chairman and Managing Director of Carl Kammerling International (CKI), passed away on 29th January 2024 at 88 years of age. He was the last surviving family member of his generation. Arnold joined CKI, the home of C.K Tools, in 1956
and played a pivotal role in transforming the business from a general hardware tool supplier to owner and supplier of the leading premium tool brand for professionals and electricians it has become today. CKI was founded by the Kammerling family in Germany in 1904 and has been at the forefront of hand tool manufacturing for over 100 years. Arnold was born in Wuppertal in 1935 and faced adversity during World War 2 when his home and the family business were decimated by an RAF bombing raid. Arnold’s family relocated to Pwllheli in Wales in 1950 when he was just 15 years old, establishing the company’s global headquarters there. Arnold was passionate about producing high-quality, durable
products and coined the original ‘Friend for Life’ strapline C.K Tools was known for, conveying his firm belief that ‘recollection of quality remains long after the price has been forgotten’. Known for his kindness, gentleness, dignity and hard work, he leaves behind a legacy which will be cherished by his five children and five grandchildren, as well as his industry peers, colleagues and the local community of Pwllheli.
