Time marches on...
As the retail industry never really takes a break, no sooner have we recovered from the madness of Christmas and the New Year sales and we’re already staring February in the face and it’ll be Easter before we know it. Everyone seems busier and under more pressure than ever these days, which can mean time rushes past much faster than we’d like, leaving little chance to enjoy the moment and plan ahead. Having a strategy and planning is key to success in business, so it’s important to take the time to set goals and then have a clear vision of how to achieve them. This is one of the main reasons why we’ve introduced the new ‘Omnichannel Retail Strategy of the Year’ category for this year’s DIY Week Awards. We
want to take the time to appreciate and reward those who have put the work and effort into defining what form this approach to the market should take, and then followed it through to a successful outcome. It sits nicely alongside our other business-orientated categories, which include ‘Retailer Support and Marketing Initiative’, ‘Business Expansion’, ‘Team of the Year, ‘POS Display’, ‘Store Design’, and the ultimate accolade of ‘Retailer of the Year’. Together with all the product categories, plus ‘Industry Personality of the Year’, the DIY Week Awards provides the perfect platform on which to recognise the amazing achievements of those working hard to achieve success in our industry. The live awards presentation lunch is set to take place in London on 19th May, but before we get to that point, we have to carefully asses and judge the entries and you can find out who will be making these all important decisions on page 11 of this issue. So why not take a break and learn more about the DIY Week Awards online at
www.diyweekawards.co.uk and then get your in entries while you’ve still got the chance, it could be time well spent.
