REVIEW: SPRING FAIR 2020
many businesses
are making it
work, business models are being challenged; at Spring Fair, we want to give ambitious retailers the knowledge and assurance that embracing real change and transformation opens the door to opportunity. Those that have that fresh thinking in their approach and put their customers at the centre of their business are those that will thrive.
“Our 2020 line-up was highly
relevant for today’s challenges; it will help shape thinking and we anticipated it to be our most exciting yet. We’re taking steps to embrace and indulge inspiring ideas from the industry’s most exciting innovators and disruptors. We wanted attendees to leave feeling invigorated, inspired, and with a new mindset for the year ahead and beyond.”
Exciting trend installations Future Trends SS2021, in partnership with Colour Hive, offered visitors a source of trend insight at Spring Fair. The information available provided visitors with an all year-round source of retail trend insights across colour, product and experience to inspire their buying decisions. This year’s show saw over 2,500 exhibitors showcase 1,000s
of
exciting new products. This year’s brand-new layout also
helped
buyers to explore new opportunities and diversify their offering. The show organisers
brought all of
gifting together to create the largest source of gift inspiration, plus the largest continuously laid out offering of homewares and décor designed to help you to excite your customers.
Sustainability at Spring Fair Last year, Spring Fair launched the ‘Power of One’ campaign to encourage the retail industry to make
sustainable
www.diyweek.net choices. This
year, everything the organisers are doing, was done bigger and better, taking sustainability at Spring Fair to the next level. The new initiatives included the ‘Sustainability Trail’. The trail featured sustainable

ethical and that
are doing their part to reduce the damage the retail industry has on the environment. Exhibitors that answered the questions around their initiatives on their profiles, pledging to be sustainable, featured on the trail, highlighted by a leaf icon. Four additional icons that represented material, packaging, ethical, and environmental impact, provided a deeper insight into the areas they are working on. To showcase the trail, the on-site books, and the interactive map on the Fair Match App, along with the website, all had a sustainable index highlighting who was taking part in the Sustainability Trail and what role sustainability takes in their company. Every day at Spring Fair 2020
there were various seminars and talks around sustainability and the retail industry. These touched all of the key areas, including sustainable sourcing,
sustainability for
independents, sustainable product design,
and sustainable store
design. Key companies and people including Sedex and The Body Shop gave a rundown of everything you need to know to make your business more sustainable. These seminars were extremey popular and not to be missed for any retailer looking to take their business into the future. While Spring Fair
is a great
platform to promote and encourage sustainable practices, as a show it is practicing what it preaches and making its own sustainable changes. At Spring Fair 2020 all of the on-site books were 100 per cent recyclable, and the organisers got rid of the plastic cups that were at
last year’s show and provided water areas where visitors and exhibitors could refill their reusable bottles. The printers used by Spring Fair 2020 were 100 per cent sustainable, so all of the flyers, brochures and magazines produced for the event were too. Unlike most other shows, the stands, carpets, and signage at Spring Fair 2020 will all be recycled; this can make a huge difference to the waste leftover at the end of the show.
Exhibitor highlights Chain Products felt that Spring Fair 2020 was better than last year. The layout was improved and customers said it had been refreshed. The company also reported that orders and enquiries were considerably higher than last year. The Chain Products range includes chain for chandeliers, clocks and lampshades, and also Yacht chain. Chain products also carries a wide range of fixings including carbine hooks, shackles, s-hooks and snap hooks. If you thought Chain Products were just about chain think again; it’s your one stop shop for chain, rope, ironmongery, accessories, tubing and more. Scrub
Daddy makes high-
performance cleaning products by combining exclusive materials with fun, functional designs. Texture changing scrubbers, smell resistant sponges and scratch-free scour pads are just a few reasons they are very popular in America. At Spring Fair, Scrub Daddy was showing its range of Scour Daddy products which have an ArmorTec mesh covering the
FlexTexture core, the same
product which Scrub Daddy is made from, meaning he can change texture in different water temperature too. While having stability, thickness and absorbency from the FlexTexture core, the ArmorTec is heat-treated
to release food particles and durable enough to handle your worst burnt casserole dish. The Scour Daddy is scratch resistant on everything from crystal to chrome so cast iron pans are in safe hands. Scour Daddy comes in a pack of three in multiple colours for colour coded cleaning and comes with a hanging tab for storing and drying. The Rainy Day Trust is working
towards a time when all those who have worked in the home improvement and enhancement industry have the funds they need to live. The organisation was at Spring Fair 2020 to promote the fact that it is working alone and in partnership with other organisations to provide financial and other assistance to those who have fallen on hard times. The Rainy Day Trust exists to help those who have fallen on hard times. It supports people who have worked in the home improvement and enhancement industries. There are a number of ways it can help, whether you currently work or worked within any of the following industries. The Trust is here, because you can’t always do it yourself. It helps help those (and the partners of) people who have worked in the manufacture, wholesale, retail and distribution of builders’ merchants, DIY, hardware, potteries and glass, housewares and garden centres. The organisation also help professional tradesmen
