The Slitter? Call it by name:

while offering proven recyclability, particularly when supported by the right collection and recovery systems. Unlike biodegradable coatings, which are still evolving in cost, performance and availability, this solution is commercially viable now. And it’s already supporting circular outcomes across markets.
Typical uses of PE-coated boards are hygroscopic (moisture sensitive) products such as powders and dry products that have to remain dry. Other uses include frozen food, like frozen fish or cakes and pet food boxes, among other applications.
For PE-coated board, plastic makes up approximately three to five per cent of the overall structure. Alongside the board element coming from recycled and recyclable fibres. This demonstrates that packaging need not take an all-or-nothing approach to plastic use.
THE FINAL PELLET
Solutions like PE-coated recycled and recyclable carton board can improve our current levels of plastic waste, but we must also recognise that no present-day solution goes all the way to meeting the challenge. It is vital to pursue the research and development that will eventually take us closer to any sort of packaging waste.
But while these innovations are awaited, we should change the conversation around plastics. Our challenge is not plastic, but waste. Waste is real and our efforts to reduce it must be robust and achievable in today’s world, whether that waste is plastic or not.
