Alternative ranges in the garden weed, feed and control sector is quickly becoming a prominent feature in horticultural businesses as consumers show a keen interest in environmentally conscious options

ince entering the UK market in 2012, Neudorff has continued to grow its successful weed, feed and control range, providing effective products for gardeners who are keen to use alternatives. Neudorff has been described as one of the very few companies worldwide to develop its own plant protection and care products. New products are developed and tested at the company’s state of the art experimental garden and greenhouses and tested further at independent laboratories across Europe to confirm their efficacy. Some of its latest developments include two varieties for tackling lawn pests;


LeatherjacketFree and LawnGrubFree and the third variety, VineWeevilFree for ornamentals like rhododendron, cherry laurel and perennials in borders, pots and containers. The latter was recently awarded the Garden Industry Manufacturer’s Association’s (GIMA) highest accolade – the GIMA Sword of Excellence - and also received the “best new product” award in the Garden Care category at the awards. The GIMA judges described VineWeevilFree Nematodes as “a product that says great things about ecological gardening and really opens up the market for consumers.”

Positive changes When looking ahead to this year, Jude says Neudorff has taken a bold step of renaming two of its bestselling product ranges to create a more recognisable product family. “The Pyrol Bug & Larvae Killer range will now be known as BugFree, and the glyphosate-free Fast Acting Weedkiller and Fast Acting & Long Lasting Weedkiller products will come under the WeedFree name,” he says. “Packaging for each product has been updated to improve visual presence in store and to help customers easily identify the products features and benefits at a glance.


“In addition, the UK team bid a fond farewell to one of our longest serving members of staff. In September 2018 Lee Squires retired from his position of area sales manager. Lee helped to establish and grow the Neudorff brand in the south of the UK, generating a huge amount of new business during his time with us.”
