Mental health in the trades R
esearch from IronmongeryDirect and ElectricalDirect’s annual Mental Health in the Trades report revealed that more than four in fi ve UK tradespeople experience mental health problems due to work, and 84% don’t feel comfortable discussing their mental health.
Mental Health Awareness Week took place at the end of last month, and it was great to see so many projects, initiatives and conversations taking place across the electrical industry. However, more must be done to remove the stigma around mental illness and to give mental health the urgency and care it needs. The Electrical Industry Charity runs a number of mental health courses delivered by accredited trainers for both employers and employees, including mental health fi rst aider training. Why not look into signing up to one of the sessions this Mental Health Month?
