A bright future
A bright future W
Going green with EV charging W
The UK electrical accessories market has returned to growth more quickly than expected after the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, seeing an estimated 8% growth in 2021, according to a recent report from AMA Research. This is encouraging news as we near the end of Q1 2022, and hopefully marks the beginning of the end of the economic ill-effects of the pandemic for our sector. Growth last year was limited by supply chain disruption and material shortages, but the continued growth in construction output - not to mention increasing demand for EV charging units, home automation systems and energy efficient retrofits - makes for a positive outlook. Spring is on its way, and the future looks bright for the electrical market.

elcome to the April issue of Electrical Wholesaler. We’ve got something of a focus on electric vehicle charging this month, with features from both Sevadis and Myenergi sharing their take on the rapidly changing EV landscape. With the Electric Vehicles Smart Charge Point Regulations coming into force at the end of June, it’s vital to be ahead of the change and ensure you’re up to date. On page 26, Dr Chris Horne, chief technical officer at myenergi, discusses the upcoming introduction of new EV charging regulations and the plans - and potential pitfalls - of our transition to electric vehicles. On the same topic, our cover story this month looks to the future of EV charging solutions, with Sevadis managing director Craig Slater looking at the opportunity this burgeoning sector offers for electrical wholesalers - covering types of charger, installation, compatibility and functionality.
