Uprated LinkSwitch AC-DC Converter ICs from Power Integrations Increase Available Current by 60%
Power Integrations today announced a new member of its acclaimed LinkSwitch™-TN2 AC-DC converter family. The new LNK3207 ICs facilitate higher-power offline buck converter designs for appliances and industrial applications by increasing the available output current from 360 mA to 575 mA, while also reducing BOM count. Silvestro Fimiani, product marketing manager at Power Integrations said: “These new LinkSwitch- TN2 ICs are pin-to-pin compatible with previous generations, making it simple for customers to upgrade to higher-power designs. A high-current buck converter can be created using a minimal number of easily available components while saving at least one diode over previous solutions.” The LNK3207 AC-DC converter ICs increase the available current by 60% while also delivering
greater than 80% efficiency and no-load consumption of less than 30 mW. Each monolithic LinkSwitch-TN2 IC incorporates a 725 V power MOSFET, oscillator, on/off control for high efficiency at light load, a high-voltage switched current source for self-biasing, frequency jittering, fast (cycle-by-cycle) current limit, hysteretic thermal shutdown, and output and input overvoltage protection circuitry.

Pickering delivers clear, comprehensive new information resource
Pickering Electronics has completely revamped the datasheets of its entire range of reed relays, providing more information in a clearer format with interactive links to further useful content. New information includes additional environmental specs, mechanical characteristics and relay weights, plus RF plots for coaxial relays, showing
VSWR, isolation and insertion loss. Instead of being ‘squashed’ onto two pages – a legacy of printed datasheets - the specifications and relay details are more clearly laid out, especially the mechanical drawings. The new designed-for-digital datasheets include interactive links to relevant technical applications information and content, including a summary document entitled ‘10 key benefits of Pickering Reed Relays’ and a comparison table to similar products from Pickering. Comments Pickering CEO Keith Moore: “It’s easy to overlook so-called ‘simple’ components such
as reed relays, so we decided to make all our experience available to designers as easily as possible, so they make the correct choice.”

High frequency chip equalizers offer excellent slope linearity
ROLEC’s aluCASE Diecast Enclosures Now Come
Smiths Interconnect’s new CEX series provides optimized solutions for gain variation over frequency. Smiths Interconnect, a leading provider of technically diff erentiated electronic components, subsystems, microwave and radio frequency products announced the release of its new CEX Series of High Frequency Surface Mount Chip Equalizers optimized to off er precise compensation for unwanted gain variation over frequency in an RF signal chain. The CEX Series of High Frequency Surface
Mount Chip Equalizers is designed to off er customers a confi gurable design approach to get the right solution for specifi c frequency range and slope, fi tting a wide range of requirements up to 40 GHz with a maximum slope of 4dB. “The CEX series of chip equalizers complements our existing line of SMT high frequency board level components pushing the boundaries of size, weight and power with each new design and expanding our off ering for Space, Defence and Communication systems”, says Bruce Valentine, VP of Business Development. With Colour-Coding Colour-coded trims are now available as options on ROLEC’s aluCASE premium diecast aluminium enclosures for industrial electronics. These tough, elegant and versatile housings can be installed anywhere – on walls, machines, bulkheads and desktops. The trims, which cover the lid and mounting screws, are now optionally available in red (RAL 3020), blue (RAL 5017) or anthracite (RAL 7016), in addition to the standard window grey (RAL 7040). Separate screw channels enable aluCASE to be mounted ‘lid closed’ to protect the seal and electronics. The lid is recessed to accommo- date a membrane keypad, product label or front plate. Robust aluCASE is available in 29 sizes from 75 x 50 x 33 mm to 430 x 300 x 120 mm. The standard colour is window grey (RAL 7040). The housings are rated to IP 66 and IP 67 protection classes as standard. IP 69K is also available on request. Prices start at £23.

Reflex Photonics awarded multimillion-dollar contract for intrasatellite optical interconnect for advanced, high-throughput communication satellites.
SpaceABLE optical modules developed for ARTES Scylight program. Reflex Photonics, a Smiths Interconnect
company, was recently awarded a multimillion- dollar contract to deliver thousands of SpaceABLE®
in state-of-the-art, high-throughput communication satellites (HTCS) that will be deployed into geostationary orbit.
Building on the recognized robustness inherent in the design of Reflex Photonics’ optical modules, the SpaceABLE®28 line will provide radiation- resistant optical interconnect modules tested and qualified for use in harsh space environment. Reflex Photonics has benefited from support from the European Space Agency ARTES Scylight program with financial contribution from the Canadian Space Agency to pursue the development of advanced, high-speed, digital intrasatellite optical fibre communication modules. Tullio Panarello, Vice President and General Manager Fibre Optics and Components at Smiths Interconnect, comments: “The optimization of our radiation-resistant transceivers to address the rigorous demands of GEO HTCS would not have been possible without the reputable cross- functional teams at Reflex Photonics and the invaluable contribution of the Canadian and European space agencies”.

Embedde ARM Core Front Panel Solutions from ITRON (U.K.) LTD
Itron’s powerful ARM-9based embedded TFT modules provide serial interfaces to link host and peripheral devices using USB, RS232, Async, SPI, P2C, CAN and Ethernet. Most ports double up as general I/O with IRQ functionality.
Our embedded solutions allow design engineers to move application processing into the TFT module which reduces host overhead and enables easily manageable communication speeds. The host can send raw data to the TFT module for the opersting system to process and synchronise display refresh, navigstion and peripheral control.
