Embedded ARM Core Front Panel Solutions from ITRON (U.K.) LTD

I TE Connectivity’s AMPMODU T

E Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, is freeing up valuable space on

printed circuit boards (PCBs) for design engineers with its new compact AMPMODU wire-to-board receptacles with crimp contacts and shrouded headers. With centerline distances of 2 mm, they occupy 38 percent less space on a PCB than connectors with a 2.54 mm [0.100”] centerline..

TE’s wire-to-board receptacles offer a variety of

housing styles and crimp contacts for wire sizes between 30 and 24 AWG [0.05 – 0.22 mm2]. Receptacle assemblies provide a large and reliable contact surface between the header pin and receptacle contact by using phosphor bronze contacts with dual cantilever beams with gold or tin plating.

Kistler maXYmos provides quality assurance for medical device manufacturers

T

he Kistler maXYmos TL ML is the first process monitoring system to meet the strict FDA and MDR

regulatory requirements for quality assurance in the medtech sector. The new monitoring system can deliver 100 per cent testing; a critical requirement for manufacturers operating in environments where pharmaceutical goods and medtech equipment are produced. The new maXYmos TL ML, based on the tried-and-

tested maXYmos system, can be easily qualified and validated for integration into existing quality management systems. Process monitoring systems play an increasingly

important part in quality assurance on automated production lines. Medical device manufacturers must demonstrate that their products meet the requirements for safety and quality and provide proof of the reliability and precision of quality assurance monitoring not only throughout their own manufacturing process but also that of their suppliers.

software as part of its ESAB Digital Solutions suite of online management tools. WeldCloud Notes enables companies to better perform four essential tasks: • Maintain quality and compliance while managing PQR (procedure qualification records) and WPS (welding procedure specifications) documents in one place;

• Efficiently review all of its PQR, WPS and WPQ (weld procedure qualifications) information with a quick and easy search feature (view video);

• Generate a PQR or WPQ with all essential variables; • Prevent missing a qualification expiration date or wasting time and money on requalifying welders.

“WeldCloud Notes helps companies increase

productivity, reduce costs, avoid liabilities and improve quality assurance during project execution,” says Ludvig Enlund, General Manager Digital Solutions, ESAB. “This online software tool enables every relevant person on a project to access information, search for the correct qualifications, create welding procedures, introduce welding records, keep track of production and print reports for all the activity completed.”

leading manufacturer of thermopile sensors. Thermopile detectors are passive radiation sensing devices requiring no bias or cooling and generate an output voltage in the range of micro to millivolts. The spectral absorption of these detectors is flat from the UV to the far infrared with wavelength sensitivity only limited by the choice of the optical element which seals the TO can.

L Figure (1) shows the typical internal construction of a

thermopile device produced by Dexter, the detector consists of a thermocouple array mounted on a ceramic substrate. The hot and cold junctions that form the thermocouple are connected with alternating n and p- type materials called “arms.” The cold junctions are thermally connected to the detector housing and are located around the perimeter of the substrate opening. The hot junctions define the active area of the detector and are coated with an energy absorber.

tron's powerful ARM9-based embedded TFT modules provide serial interfaces to link host and peripheral

devices using USB, RS232, RS485, Async, SPI, I2C, CAN and Ethernet. Most ports double up as general I/O with IRQ functionality. Our embedded solutions allow designer engineers to move application processing into the TFT module which reduces host overhead and enables easily manageable communication speeds. The host can send raw data to the TFT module for the operating system to process and synchronise display refresh, navigation and peripheral control. For further details:

Wieland’s new HMI ECO

touch panels - essential for machines and systems

W

ieland’s new HMI ECO touch panels have become essential for machines and systems in their use for

visualisation, operation, and diagnostics. When used in conjunction with the samos® PRO safety controller they offer complete automation, including seamless data exchange between the visualisation software hmiPLAN and the planning software samos® PLAN6. The unit offers flexible communication and seamless integration with over 40 different PLC and device manufacturers, including convenient data exchange of export and import functions.

This robust IP66 display is easily programmed via an

Ethernet or USB client, while commissioning is quick having only one project file, which is easily converted to suit each screen size. Designed for industrial environments, HMI ECO touch panels have an extended temperature range from -10°C to 60°C on standard panels with -20°C to 60°C supplied on request.
